Pupils at Sanderson High got tore into their fundraising efforts … literally.
Brave pupils and staff at the East Kilbride schools gallantly offered to have their legs waxed bringing in £102 to date with more money coming in.
The fundraiser was part of a Senior Phase Education for Life group project with pupils working as part of a team to raise as much money for charity as possible.
This is a schools challenge set by Blytheswood Care.
The organisation raises money for several projects around the world and the Enterprise Group 2 chose to raise money for the 999 Fire Engine appeal in Romania.
It buys decommissioned fire engines from the UK and sends them to Romania with fire officers to give training.
The challenge has taken place between February 10 and March 10, with one month to raise as much money as possible and with a budget of £20 from the Blytheswood Care.
Pupils came up with a variety of ideas to raise money and decided to raffle a bouquet of flowers raising £90, sold grow your own sunflowers making £32 and, not forgetting, the leg wax.
Teacher, Gillian Johnston, said: “The grand total so far raised by pupils is £204.
“They have needed to source information, take responsibility, work in teams to solve problems and be creative in a variety of different ways working towards their chosen goal.
“Our excellent inclusion links with Calderglen High allowed Anne, their beautician, to work with pupils from Sanderson and Calderglen High, giving training in a variety of beauty techniques.”
